PACE Dr. Charles, 68, passed away at his home in Wyckoff on January 7, 2016. He succumbed to the complications of surviving Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia diagnosed in 2006. Charlie is survived by Anne, his loving wife of 46 years; sons: Charles and his wife, Kim; and Michael and his wife, Amanda; brother Philip and his wife, Nancy; his sisters-in-law Janice Pace, Mary Torchen; brother-in-law Henry Manifold; nieces and nephews: Tara Pace O’Neill and husband James; Deirdre Pace and husband Prashant George; Christopher Pace; Nyssa Pace; grandniece Kate O’Neill; grandnephews George Pace, Philip Pace. The good doctor was the son of Frank and Violet Pace (deceased) and brother of Robert Pace who died unexpectedly on January 5, 2016. We, his family, extended family, dear friends, colleagues, employees, and patients, will profoundly miss Charlie, a remarkable Renaissance Man. Everyone has “a Charlie story.” His sense of humor and broad smile will endure. According to one Ramapo High School graduate, almost every student with braces was a Dr. Pace patient; they loved him and he loved them. This was his life, not just his job. He earned his BS at Fordham University (1968), his DDS at New York University (1972), was promoted to Captain in the United States Army (1974); completed the Orthodontic Residency Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University (1976). Skiing, sailing, and kayaking provided him with an intimate connection with nature. Building radio-controlled cars, boats and airplanes allowed him to use his finely developed manual skills beyond his office. He hand-crafted a wooden kayak to perfection. He began piano lessons and enjoyed making music; later his boys followed his lead. Charlie, camera in hand, and Anne traveled the world Later his boys followed suit. He was a very early adopter of computer technology. An active member of the Rotary Club, he served as president from 2003 to 2004. Charlie was an avid supporter of the Wyckoff/Franklin Lakes Annual Triathlon. We treasure favorite memories of Charlie, with smiles and gratitude. He touched our lives. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, 4 – 8 PM with a service beginning at 7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services: PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202, www.lls.org.
