Darby:
It was absolutely wonderful to see you again yesterday and renewing our friendship at the Penn Reunion Leadership Conference... So just now, I went to Friend you on Facebook... And I as I scrolled down your page, I learned that your Dad had passed away almost two years ago... I feel severely remiss for not having been aware of this sooner... God Bless Peter Mullany and his memory.
Your Friend,
Neil Bernstein ("Curly")

The news of Dr. Peter Mullany passing was deeply saddening and brought back fond memories. He was my professor at FDU as well as my advisor. He was also a supporter of the women’s basketball team back in the 90’s and assisted the team on academic placement. He touched many with his intellect, kindness and humor. Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. May God embrace you in comfort during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Claire, Peter, and Darby,
Jeff and I were so sad to learn of Peter's passing. I have long admired the "Fordham crew" and their commitment to each other over the years. They are a model of friendship to which we should all aspire--the epitome of lifelong friends.
As a high school English teacher, I was especially fond of Peter and his love of literature. He would regularly check in on my progress during my graduate years at Fordham and was a great sounding board for me.
He will be missed by so many but leaves an enduring legacy behind.
Much love,
Tricia

We have so many happy memories of good times together with Peter and Claire especially enjoying Vermont together on their many visits. He will be so missed by us and I know by all those whose lives he touched and influenced either in the classroom or just in day to day life. To one who loved all things Irish may the road rise to meet you and may you be welcomed with open arms.

Peter and I began our careers at FDU at about the same time. I always found him to be interested in the welfare of the students and the university. He was devoted to his children and also always interested in knowing about my family and classes. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
I shall always remember him as an elegant gentleman whose world consisted of books, family and friends, as well as the intellectual growth of our students.

I am so sad to hear this news! Peter was such a great guy. He turned me on to Shakespeare while I was a student at FDU. We remained friends until the end where we would catch up over a drink at HHK Inn or Park West. I will really miss you! Godspeed my friend.
Fondly,
Beth Conyngham

Very sorry to receive the news pf Peter's passing. I believe we first met in Ridgewood at OLMC although my family and I live around the corner on Glen Ave.
We shared some things in common. Irish - from NYC (we're from Brooklyn) and a birthday May 22nd. (1954 for me). Literature. Politics.
A good soul.
He will be greatly missed

To the Mullany Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Professor Mullany was just amazing. My daughter had the pleasure of being one of his students. He praised my daughter when appropriate and on other occasions I would ask, "how is Mary doing these days" and he would just simply smile and tell me she is a pleasure to have in class. What a gentleman, always. Peter and I would bump into one and another from time to time in the Halls of Dickinson Hall and he would always have a fabulous smile and a kind word to say to me. He was missed when he retired and he will continue to be missed by me and by so many others. Thank you for sharing such a kind and wonderful man with us for so many years.
With Much Sympathy,
Maureen and Mary Farrell

I am so sorry to learn that Peter is gone. I began teaching history at FDU 15 years ago, and I many times enjoyed having lunch with Peter and his colleagues in English. As a historian, I am always eager to learn about the past, because I don't think it's possible to understand much of anything without some appreciation for how it came to be. Peter was one of my senior colleagues who filled me in on FDU's history. More than the history lessons, though, I remember his irrepressible good cheer, sense of humor, and ability to tell a good story. He embodied for me a certain style of English professor, a style that I am afraid is vanishing from our universities. He will be remembered fondly at FDU for as long as I teach there, and beyond.
