Obituary of George Osgoodby

George Michael Osgoodby George Osgoodby, age 60, of Waldwick, passed from this life into Eternity, on Sunday, November 15th . George was born in Evanston, Illinois and was a lifetime resident of Waldwick, NJ. After graduating from Waldwick High School, where he lettered in track and football, George attended William Paterson University. For 35 years, he had a distinguished career in Industrial Sales. He was a beloved and kind man, soft spoken and always willing to help others in need. A devoted husband and father, George surrounded his family with love, dedication and sacrifice. He was a great role model for all those, whose life he touched. George had varied hobbies and interests, including photography, scuba diving and boating. He was a member of the Waldwick Lions Club and the Waldwick Pistol and Rifle Club. George was also a parishioner of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church in Ho Ho Kus. George is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann ( nee Salamone ) Osgoodby, sons Thomas and his wife Roxanne and Gregory and his wife Stephanie, along with his sisters Mary Albright and Nancy Osgoodby. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. George’s wonderful, meaningful and all-loving life will continue to influence all who loved him. He endeared himself to all. Visitation will be at the Vander Platt Funeral Home, 257 Goodwin Ave., in Wyckoff. Hours of visitation are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18th. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Saint Luke’s Church in Ho_Ho_Kus, on Thursday, November 19th at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Saint Luke’s RC Church for their Roof Fund. The Osgoodby Family is grateful for the generous blood donations that George received during his battle with Leukemia. George was the recipient of more than 150 blood transfusions. At his request and in his honor, the family will be holding a blood drive on Saturday, December 12th at St. Luke’s Parrish Center. Your charitable donations gave George the opportunity to attend his son’s wedding and celebrate his 60th birthday.
