Obituary of John J Durkin
DURKIN,
John “Jack”, 80, of Franklin Lakes, died Monday, October 19, 2015. Born in Beverly, MA and has lived in Franklin Lakes since 1977.
Jack served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was an active member of the American Legion Post 57 in Waldwick. He was the Vice President of Operations for Western Union in Upper Saddle River where he worked until he retired in 1996. Jack was very active in the Retired Western Union Employee Association.
He is survived by his wife Theresa, his children: Cathy Vervoort and her husband John of Waldwick, Jim and his wife Donna Bodine of El Cerrito, CA, Tom and his wife Nancy of Wyckoff, NJ, and Patty of New York City ; and his beloved grandchildren: Kim, Alison, Katie and LJ.
Visiting hours are Friday 2 – 4 & 7 - 9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
Funeral Mass is 10:00am on Saturday at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to the Franklin Lakes Vol. Ambulance Corps, PO Box 302, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
