Obituary of Peter Simone

Simone, Peter E., of Ft. Pierce, FL, formally of Kings Park, NY, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 on his 86th birthday at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, FL. Peter was born in Manhattan, NY and resided in Kings Park, NY for 37 years before retiring to Ft. Pierce, FL in 1993. He was the Co-Founder and Vice President of Securities Courier Corp. which grew to be one of the largest same day bank transportation couriers in New Jersey. Peter began his career at Eastern Airlines and rose to the position of Field Operations Manager for Eastern Airlines at LaGuardia, Kennedy and Philadelphia airports. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council # 3416 in Fort Pierce, FL and Council #7514 of Port St. Lucie, FL. Throughout his life Peter was an avid Opera Buff often attending the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center and was a recording collector extraordinaire. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Theresa (nee Brana) of Ft. Pierce, FL, his daughter, Johanna Piscitelli of Wallingford, CT and her husband Jerry; and Peters' three sons; Leonard of Pomona, NY and his wife Patricia, Dominick of Midland Park and his wife, Janice, and Peter of Ridgefield Park, NJ and his fiancé Debbie Reece. Also surviving are 10 Grandchildren: Jerry, Jocelyn, Jeffrey, Alexandra, James, Thea, Meghan, Molly, Marie and Peter. And 3 Great Grandchildren: Jerry, Madison and Mackenzie. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Prayers will be said on Friday, July 27, 2012 beginning at 9:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Luke's RC Church, 340 Franklin Tpke., HoHoKus, NJ. Interment will take place in St. Luke's Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Mark, The Evangelist Parish, 1924 Zephyr Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34982 where Peter was an active parishioner.
