Obituary of Charles Albanis
Albanis, Charles, age 92 of Waldwick, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Born in New York City, he lived in Hillsdale for many years before moving to Waldwick 10 years ago. He was a 1948 graduate of New York University’s School of Commerce. Charles was a WW II Army veteran and a member of the 305th Bomb Group. He worked for many years as a Salesman for Kullman Dining Car and most recently for Hershey Ice Cream Co. before his retirement. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff and its senior group.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Mary (nee Papalexis) Albanis of Waldwick, his children; Dean and his wife, Cindy of Saddle River, Billy of West Palm Beach, FL, and Gregory and his partner, Rick Harrison of New York City. Also surviving are his three grandchildren; Billy, Jonathan and Allison and three great grandchildren; Brooks, Van and Summer Leigh.
Visiting, Sunday 2-5 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Funeral Service Monday 11 am at St. Nicholas G.O. Church, 467 Grandview Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Private burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Maspeth, NY.
