Obituary of John Mulvaney

Mulvaney, John F., age 88, of Waldwick, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at Van Dyk Manor of Ridgewood, NJ. Born in Port Jervis, NY he had resided there until moving to Waldwick, NJ in 1950. He is a WW II Army Veteran. John was a Communication Maintainer for NJ Transit for 42 years before his retirement in 1984 and most recently, served as a Crossing Guard in Waldwick for over 20 years. John was a member of St. Luke's RC Church, Ho Ho Kus and active as a Choir member, Lector, Senior Lucans, Right to Life and a past member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a 4th degree member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5257,Waldwick and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Joseph F. Lamb Assembly, Ridgewood. John is a former member of the VFW, Matamoras, PA and a member of the American Legion Post 57, Waldwick. John is survived by his wife, Marion (nee Van Sickle) Mulvaney of Waldwick, his son Raymond and his wife Mary Mulvaney of Saddle Brook, his daughter Mary Mulvaney of Waldwick, and a brother and his wife, W. Joseph and Lilyan Mulvaney of Palm Harbor, FL. Also surviving is his granddaughter Christine Lin Mulvaney, a step granddaughter, Lauretta Brendel and a step great granddaughter, Megan Loibl. Visiting hours, Monday, 2 - 4, 7 - 9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Prayers, Tuesday 9:15 AM at the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Luke's RC Church, 340 Franklin Tpke., Ho Ho Kus, NJ. The interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Luke's RC Church.
