Obituary of Alberta Teschon

TESCHON, Alberta (nee Decker) age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. Alberta was born in Prospect Park on January 4, 1919. She was a long time resident of both North Haledon and West Palm Beach, FL before moving to Hawthorne 12 years ago. Alberta worked as a Nurses Aid at the Christian Health Care Center before retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Sixth Reformed Church in North Haledon where she sang in the choir and belonged to the Ladies Bible Study, as well as the Greenhouse Bible Study Group. After her retirement she volunteered at both the Christian Health Care Center and the Corner Closet in Hawthorne. Alberta was a member of the Midland Park Crusaders; she was also a well known soloist in the area and sang with the Montclair Chorale and the Schlumpf Chorus. Surviving are her children, Wayne D. Teschon and his wife Sally A. of Franklin Lakes, and Eileen L. and her husband Ernest G. Richter of Mahwah. She also leaves six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her brother-in-law, Ben Teschon, and sister-in-law Clara Decker. Alberta was pre-deceased by her husband Daniel B. Teschon in 1992, her brother Peter Decker, and sister Anna Dyk. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:00 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home 257 Godwin Avenue Wyckoff. Interment will follow at the Fair Lawn memorial Cemetery. Visiting is Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
