Obituary of Harris Rakov

Rakov, Harris J. age 64 of Mahwah died Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Born in Miami Beach, Florida, he grew up & lived in New York City before moving to Mahwah in 1987. Harris earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, then graduated with honors, being 12th in his class, from Boston University Law School, & completed his Master's Degree in Corporate Law at New York University School of Law. Admitted to the federal & state bars of New York & New Jersey, Harris worked for several law firms, then branched out on his own, maintaining his own office for the general practice of law. In 1988 he became Law Secretary to the Honorable Edward J. Greenfield at the New York State Supreme Court. Upon his retirement in 2002, Harris founded Ride in Style, Ltd., Jaguar Limousine Service. With an emphasis on superior service, Ride In Style went out of its way to provide customers with the individual assistance they were seeking. He was a perfectionist who strived for excellence. Harris loved exotic plants, orchids, & clivia plants, only to name a few & was co-founder of the Manhattan Orchid Society. He was a member of Central Synagogue, New York City & more recently a member of Temple Beth Haverim, Mahwah. Surviving is his immediate family members, each of whom he loved dearly, his wife Barbara, his daughter, Sara Rakov a graduate student at Columbia University, NYC & his son, Nicholas Rakov a mechanical engineering major at the University of Delaware. A gathering of family & friends to celebrate Harris's life will be held at the family home, Saturday July 21, 2007 at 12:00 PM.
