Obituary of Arthur Barthold
BARTHOLD, Arthur L., Jr., age 77, of Waldwick died on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Born in Hackensack, Arthur grew up in Paramus and has been a resident of Waldwick for 51 years. Arthur was the owner of Barthold Home Improvements of Waldwick until he retired, was a councilman in Waldwick for 13 years, and served as Council President, a past member of the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and was an active member and past president of the Lions Club. Arthur was devoted to his community and enjoyed coaching in the Waldwick Baseball Association, Junior Football league and Waldwick Soccer Association. He chaired many Waldwick Graduation Balls and enjoyed being a member of the Twinbrook Duffers.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Janet, his children: Arthur Scot and wife Kathleen of Waldwick, David and wife Lisa of Waldwick, Susan Galdamez and husband Douglas of Norwood, and Robert and wife Laura of Waldwick. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Eileen, Scot, Nicole, Sarah, Robert, Meghan, Valerie, Katie, Corey, and Alyssa; and his brother Richard Barthold of New York.
Visiting hours are Monday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Service is Tuesday, 10:00am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 244, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
