Obituary of James Stergiou

STERGIOU, James T. of Wyckoff died June 23, 2011 with the comfort of his family by his side. A long time resident of Wyckoff, he was born in NYC. A graduate of the renowned Stuyvesant High School and St. John's University, James was most proud to be a United States Army veteran. Before retiring James was a valued employee of the New York Times for over 40 years where he worked as Manager of Advertising and Operations. Always proud of his Greek heritage, he was a parishioner of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Wyckoff. Beloved husband of 43 years to Lambryn (Mavrikos) Stergiou. Devoted father to his children; Angelica and her husband Glenn Degenaars, Thomas and John Stergiou; cherished Papou (grandfather) to Kayla, Emma, Alex and Jessica Degenaars. Predeceased by his brother George T. Stergiou. To James, his family - children and grandchildren were the treasures of his life. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral Service will be at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Wyckoff on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
