Obituary of Donald Durstewitz

Donald Durstewitz, age 81, died on Sunday, June 10, 2007. Born in Sandgate, VT, he lived in Waldwick for the past 52 years. Donald was an engineer with AT&T, formerly Western Electric, for 34 years prior to retiring in 1984. He was a long-time member of Lutheran Church of the Savior of Paramus where he served in the church in numerous capacities. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by his beloved wife Alma (nee Casey) to whom he was married for 56 years, his son Craig Durstewitz and wife Joanie and their children Matthew, Timothy and Elizabeth of Cape May, his daughter Vicki Lynn Coyle and husband Bob and their three children Bob, Tom and Kellyann of Totowa, and Scott Durstewitz and wife Justine and their three children Courtney, Tara, and Ryan of Old Bridge. He is also survived by his brother Gerald Durstewitz of Pompton Lakes and his sister Roberta Roser of Watertown, WI, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating Donald's life will take place on Thursday, 10 AM at Lutheran Church of the Savior, 643 Forest Road, Paramus NJ 07652. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Lutheran Church of the Savior would be appreciated. www.vpfh.com
