Obituary of Charles Jandris
JANDRIS, Charles M. 3rd passed away Monday June 6, 2010 after a lengthy illness at the age of 80. Charlie was born in Passaic, NJ and resided in Clifton. He moved to Wyckoff in 1961 where he and his wife raised their family for 43 years until they moved to Oakland in 2004. He served in the United States Army as an MP during the Korean War where he was stationed in Germany for 2 years. Mr. Jandris was a Golden Member of the Midland Park Wyckoff VFW Post 7086.
He was in the Sheet Metal industry all his life. He belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 25 and owned Suchomel's Sheet Metal Company in Newark through 1979. He then founded Janco Company in Wyckoff until he retired in 1994.
Charlie was one of the members of the famous musical quartet "The Twilighters" who played in various night clubs in the New Jersey area. He also played in numerous concerts with all accordion orchestras in his younger years at Carnegie Hall. Charlie was an antique car buff and a member of the Mercedes Benz Club of America.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Rae Ann Baldino Jandris, his daughter Doreen J. Wood of Bowie, MD, his son Chuck J. Jandris and his wife Christine of Mahwah, NJ. Also surviving are his 3 beloved grandchildren Owen C. Jandris, Lily Mc Grew Wood, and Logan C. Jandris. Besides his family, Charlie is survived by countless friends.
Charlie was a driven and passionate individual who set high goals and was able to reach them. He not only displayed these attributes in his personal life but also in his career by proving to be a great leader, role model and competitor. His genuine heart and kind soul were infectious to anyone who had the privilege to meet him. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed and the impact that he left on everyone.
The Family will receive visitors at Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 on Saturday June 11, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM. In lieu of floral tributes, donations to Passaic Valley Hospice, 783 Riverview Drive, P.O. Box 1007 Totowa, NJ 07511 would be greatly appreciated.
