Obituary of Thomas Flurchick
Flurchick, Thomas the eminent military historian age 69, passed gently away in his sleep surrounded by family after a long illness, on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Mr. Flurchick played football offensive and defensive tackle for the 1st and 2nd year of Paramus High School existence. After serving in the US Marine Corp, he returned home to manage the Kathryn A. Scoskie Florist, Greenhouses and Nursery the family business. He served as President of the Ft. Lee Antique Arms Association, was a member of the Company of Military Historians, West Point Chapter. A member of the General Phil Kearny American Civil War round table, Wayne, NJ. Member of the NJ Historic Miniatures, President of the Eastern Militaria Collectors Association, member of the Revolutionary War Round Table, Historical Society of Bergen County, member of the Mahwah Museum Society, ferverent supporter of the Brigade of the American Revolution. 1776 Militia renactor, past President of the Waldwick Pistol and Rifle Club based out of the George Bunning Police Training Facility. He served as an official of the MAX Show International, both as an awards chairman and judge. Thomas served as a volunteer line producer for WPI-TV Public Access Channel, Waldwick, NJ. Thomas is survivied, by his wife Barbara Ann Flurchick of 47 years, his son, TJ and his wife Kim Flurchick, a daughter Tanjya and her husband Joe Avieles and daughter Sonjya and her husband Bill Kithkart. Also surviving is his brother, Jim Flurchick The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. A graveside service will be held Thursday 11 am at The Mahwah Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations to WPI-TV, 66 Franklin Tpk. Waldwick, NJ 07463 would be appreciated.
