If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will, which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

I met Chris when I was still working in Paris, sometimes like 15 years ago. When I transferred to New-York, Chris, Juan and Mark made me feel at home very quickly (home being Moran's Bar and Grill). After Amex, I jumped into a new venture named adforum.com, working not far from the world financial center and meeting Chris regularly.
When time came for me to move back to France, I offered Chris to take adforum.com as his next challenge and he went for it. Back in Paris, I met him every time he flew over and we always went to the same restaurant, 'L'entrecôte', next to the Palais des Congrès; then usually finished the evening with a cigar bought in a place nearby. Ty and Alex were always part of our discussions.
I didn't learn about his sickness from him, as he was not the kind of guy that would complain about anything and when we talked about it (very briefly I have to say), he almost convinced me that it was merely more serious than having a flu. During the last two years, I was not able to meet him ... I think he did not want people to see him when he was not at his very best. I was able to talk to him on the phone in march, when I came over to New York and tried to convince him to meet ... that didn't happen, unfortunately.
Chris was a great guy, a real example when it came to beliefs, work and friendship. He loved Sarah and his two boys. I hope they will do me the pleasure of coming one day to Paris so that we can all go to L'Entrecôte and have a nice dinner and a bottle of red wine in his memory.
He will be missed.

It's been a long week still can't believe your gone. Every day a new memory comes to mind. I'm glad I was 7 when you were born because I was old enough to remember when you were born. I remember daddy bringing Colleen and I on Christmas day to the hospital to see you. We were too young to go inside but I remember mommy holding you up to the window I think she had to be on the 3rd or 4th floor like we could really see that great from where we were but I remember mommy had my watch on and I got mad since she didn't ask me to borrow it. Each memory I remember I've been writing done.
I'm so glad we got to spend the time together at the end. Love you and miss you always.
I'm sure every night you mommy and daddy are watching jeopardy enjoying a glass of wine.

If with pleasure you are viewing any work a man is doing,
If you like him or you love him, tell him now;
Don't withhold your approbation till the parson makes oration
And he lies with snowy lilies on his brow;

We were just kids, but I remember Chris' humor and silliness. I still remember and still use some of his best lines. He was just fun to be around. My condolences. Rest in Peace.

(On behalf of all Adforum employees and former employees) Chris Wynne was AdForum, Inc. President and CEO from 2004 to 2006.He led the company to profit and launched several initiatives which increased considerably our global audience to half a million unique users allowing Adforum to claim being the world’s largest Advertising trade website. All of us who worked with him remember him as a true leader and a great person to be with . I enjoyed our lengthy discussions comparing French and US politics in front of a glass of Merlot! I personally remember the day he told me he was ill . He knew he was going to have to fight a long battle and we all remember his incredible energy and positive spirit. During all the months of the treatment, he continued his business life as ever and his sense of humor was his greatest weapon. Rest in peace, Chris

Chris was first among the first class of friends. Always s gentleman, a brilliant man, loving and proud father and partner, trusted friend and mensch. Even with this substantial loss to those of us who knew him , we are all so much richer for his acquaintance. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my friend.
