Obituary of James Foley

FOLEY, James J., 82, of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he resided in Waldwick for 50 years. He proudly served in the Navy Air Corp. A faithful and active parishioner of St. Luke Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the choir, the Lucans and Renew. Jim was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of Council 5257. As seen in his smiling Irish eyes, Jim loved life and especially enjoyed a good laugh as well as quiet time with his family and friends. Prior to retiring in 1993, he worked for Marcato Co. and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3 in New York City for 45 years. Jim married the love of his life, Catherine (Griffin) Foley in 1956. He was the loving father of Catherine Foley, Trish Suttile and husband Peter, Maryann Foley, Ellen Tesoro and husband Bob and Nancy Foley who predeceased him. He was a devoted grandfather to his seven grandchildren Corinne, Kate, Jimmy, Kevin, Grace, Jon, and Jack. He was the dear brother of Mary Dougherty, Ellen Scherbach, Catherine Hammond, Rev. Dennis Foley and Ann Karr. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Glynn) Foley and brothers John and Martin Foley. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:15 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 AM at St. Luke's R.C. Church, 340 Franklin Tpk., HoHoKus, NJ. Interment will be in the Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Visiting is Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim may be made to St. Luke R.C. Church.
