Obituary of Richard Templin
TEMPLIN, Richard J. Sr., passed away peacefully on February 15, 2011, at the age of 80, at the Hackensack University Medical Center. Richard, Dick to most of his friends was a man that loved life and always had a smile to prove it. He was a resident of the Ramsey, Mahwah area for the past 75 years and a builder/contractor for over 55 years. He was the quarterback and vice president of his 1950 Ramsey High School Graduating class. He was also on the winning state championship basketball team. He attended Montclair State University coming in at number 2 on the entrance exam along with the position of quarterback of the freshman and sophomore football team. He was extremely proud of the homes he built in the Bergen county area along with Chelsea Court condominiums in Ramsey and the Mahwah post office and surrounding buildings in Mahwah. He leaves behind a loving wife, Inez of 54 years along with his daughter Vaughn and son-in-law Jim and his grandchildren Michaela and Madeleine. His son Richard Jr. and daughter-in-law Karen and granddaughter Joan Inez. He will be sadly missed every day. We love you dad. Visiting hours are Thursday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481. Interment will be Friday at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask donations in Richard's name be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
