I will always be very grateful to have performed under Manfreds direction. Everytime I hear someone playing the piano or see a conductor direct I will always think of him. His talent will live one. Those of us who have learned so much from him will miss him terribly. May he rest in peace.

I want to offer my deepest sympathies in this time of sadness. I was fortunate and will be forever grateful to have known and worked with Manfred doing what he loved: making music. We toured Germany together with the Schwaebischer Saengerbund in the summer of 2007, and it was one of the most wonderful trips of my life. I will remember him as he was on that trip- full of life, always joking and laughing, and with a perpetual twinkle in his eyes! Rest in Pease, dear friend.

I first met Manfred when I joined the Children's Choir in elementary school. I remember thinking the Christmas Concerts were so magical and I loved going to rehearsal and singing "Funny People". As I grew up, I eventually joined the youth choir and since graduating college, I joined the Festival Choir. It's hard to imagine another mass, concert or holiday without Manfred but I know he will always be in our hearts and in everything we sing. I miss him so very much and my thoughts and prayers are with his family. We love you Manfred! Rest in Peace.

Whenever I hear a waltz, I think of the wonderful music we helped provide, with you at the helm, for the beautiful dancers each New Year's Day - An amazing experience. Thank you for this and all your contributions. May God bless you and your family now and always.

Manfred's passing leaves me at a profound loss for words. He was my musical mentor, imparting his musical style and love of music on me. Manfred was the one who sat me down at the organ console for the first time nearly twenty years ago. He encouraged me to play and to get out there as a liturgical musician. I owe everything I have as a professional musician to him, and he will always be with me because of that. My thoughts and prayers are with Birgit and the twins through this most difficult time.

What terribly sad news... as a friend, I know I will miss Manfred, and so will the entire German-American community.
------
Manfred was a newly elected member of the German-American Committee of Greater New York and had previously worked with us on many occasions. For years, he had been in charge of the music for the Annual Steuben Parade Mass at St. Patrick´s Cathedral. He also helped produce several concerts at Carnegie Hall during German-American Friendship Month, including appearances by Viennese Soprano Eva Lind, the famous German duo of Deborah Sasson & Gunter Emmerlich, and Harmonic Brass from Munich.
------
One of his last projects was JazzKraut - a concert that brought together the best German Jazz musicians in New York for a unique performance as part of German-American Friendship Month. The performers were Karen Kohler and Micaela Leon (vocals), Max Schweiger (sax), Hendrik Meurkens (Harmonica), "Vana" Gierig and Axel Schwintzer (piano), Sebastian Noelle (guitar), Iris Ornig and Martin Wind (bass) and Philipp Gutbrod and Christian Finger (drums) - many of them had previously recorded with Manfred, who was a well-known and talented producer and had his own record label, Twinz Records.
------
Manfred´s musical talent and passion also served the German-American community in many ways. He was the musical director for the Schwäbische Sängerbund and the Sängerchor Newark and regularly appeared with large choirs at the German-American Heritage Festival and other occasions.
------
Manfred was always happy to share his incredible talent and his passion for music with everybody. He will be missed by the German-American community. I have rarely met such a wonderful, friendly, and warm-hearted person as he was. May he rest in peace.

I will always fondly remember the year I spent in youth choir. Manfred would choose interesting songs for us to sing, and would put up with our silly renditions of his music. Gathered around the piano, we'd eventually settle into the tune and Manfred's face would break into a smile as our voices would blend harmoniously. I'll always remember that smile he made when the music was right, and the crazied moments that followed when our "German man" (as we called him with a silly accent) would decide to change our song selection before a concert. Most of all though, I'll always remember the time we tried to get him to play Phantom of the Opera on his piano while we sang accompaniment, and the amused twinkle that would light his blue eyes. He was a brilliant, patient, and humorous man and will be sorely missed.

What a loss! Manfred will be missed by his family, his friends, his musical partners and especially by his Parish family. His talents have brought a whole new appreciation for worship services. For 25 years we benefited from his extraordinary talent and hard work in producing wonderful concerts as well as inspirational Sunday liturgies. Our prayers are with his family in this sad moment.
