Nancy Campbell posted a condolence
Monday, February 14, 2011
Donald Kivlon was born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey. After High School he enlisted in the Navy and is a WWII veteran. Returning to Hoboken, he took a job in New York. While on the ferry to work he met his first wife Jean. They wed in October 1950 and moved to West Orange, New Jersey. Don and Jean had five children: Nancy, Michael, William, James and Thomas. While working in the mortgage business and raising a family Don returned to college at night and graduated from Seton Hall University in 1955 with a degree in business. Throughout the years he has worked hard to improve his life, therefore making it a better life for his family. He was forced to retire in 1986 due to a brain injury. This did not stop Don from continuing to learn new skills, and advancing his knowledge in the stock market. During this time his family continued to grow. Four of his children married: Nancy wed Michael Campbell, Michael wed Barbara, William wed Alice, and Thomas wed Marta. They gave him nine beautiful grandchildren: Rory and Sean Campbell , Ryan, Charlene, Brendan, Patrick, Jeannie, Christine and Stephanie Kivlon. Don installed in his children and his grandchildren the importance of education, knowledge, and respect. Jean Kivlon passed away in 1993 after 43 years of marriage. In 2001 Don married his second wife Agnes. He has enjoyed many happy years with Agnes and they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Don has been blessed these 83 years and leaves behind a family that will miss him dearly.

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear the news of your dad's passing. It seems like every week I have a good friend that's lost a parent. I guess it comes with our time in life. I've heard so many amusing stories about your dad, and I know how loved he was. You know he'll remain close to you in spirit and be there whenever you need him. We send you our love and prayers at this time. Linda and Mike Duggan

Dear Dad, I will never forget the wonderful times that we had together as a family growing up in West Orange. A most vivid memory is the filming of Christmas morning as we held the slate with the date "Christmas 1962".You and Mom always made every holiday and birthday most special. A most recent memory was the cruise in honor of your eightieth birthday. What a wonderful way for the entire family to be together for this occasion. The children still speak of the marvelous time they had on the ship. What a delight it was to have you sitting in the stands at all the sporting events for Brendan,Patrick and Jeannie. They loved having you see them play. Thanks Dad for being such a fine person and loving father. We are happy that you suffering has ended and you are with Mom. We are sad that you are not with us and we will miss you tremendously. Love, Michael,Barb,Brendan,Patrick,&Jeannie
