Obituary of Charles Schoustra

SCHOUSTRA, Charles Jacob known as Chuck to his friends and family passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2007 in the Stamford Hospital in Stamford Ct. He was 81. Chuck was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 19, 1925 to Jacob and Reina Schoustra. He lived in Ridgewood, NJ and New Canaan, Ct for many years before moving to Little River, South Carolina 13 years ago. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Chuck was a Purple Heart recipient. Chuck began his career with Olin Matheson in Joliette, Illinois. He continued with the Olin Corp. in Stamford, Conn. For 42 years as a transportation analyst and retired in 1993. He was a former member of the Second Reformed Church of Wyckoff serving as an elder and also a member of their choir. Chuck is currently a member of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and their choir. He was a member of the Good News Club and also the Men's breakfast group. Chuck loved the Lord, his family and friends, reading and also golf which he played weekly for many years. He is predeceased by his first wife, Gladys J. Schoustra (June 1983). Chuck is survived by his wife, Marlene (nee Lengel) Schoustra of Little River, S. C., his son, Dale R. Schoustra of Cranford, NJ. and his daughter, Barbara J. Coffey of Keller, TX. Four stepdaughters, Sandra Lynn Peter of Norwalk, Ct, Beth Ann Phelps of Orlando, Fla. Pamela Sue Lowell of Cranston, RI, and Shari Lee MacIvor of Niskayuna, NY. Two sisters, Winifred Brandsma of South Holland, Ill and Margie Genz, Sterling, Ill. He will also be deeply missed by his 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visiting will take place on Monday, May 21, 2007 from 3-6 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home; 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.
