Obituary of Robert DeGroote

Dr. Robert David DeGroote, "Bob" age 55 of Saddle River died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at his home. Born in Hackensack he grew up in Lyndhurst and resided in Bayhead and Saddle River. Robert was a graduate of St. Benedicts Prep, Newark in 1969, a 1973 graduate of Fordham University, Bronx, NY where he played football and a 1978 graduate of the University of Guadalajara. He was a General and Vascular Surgeon and was a partner and founder of North Jersey Surgical Associates, Hackensack. He was member of the New Jersey Medical Society, Bergen County Medical Society, New Jersey Vascular Society and the American College of Surgeons. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Bayhead. Robert also has his private pilot license and was working towards his instrument rating. Surviving is his wife Deborah (nee Evans) DeGroote, his son Cristien Evan, his brother, Dr. Richard DeGroote and his wife Barbara of Brielle, NJ and his sister, Maryanne Striano and her husband Peter of Wyckoff. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Visiting, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Prayers, Monday 9 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Interment Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
