OLTHUIS, John H... age 89, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon. John was born in Paterson and lived most of his life in Midland Park before moving to Wyckoff in 1996, and more recently to North Haledon. Mr. Olthuis owned and operated the Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park for 60 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park, a member of the Midland Park Fire Dept., a charter member and past president of the Midland Park Lions Club, the Upper Montclair Country Club, the New Jersey State and Bergen County Funeral Director's Associations, and spent many an afternoon with his friends at Pete's Corner. He also organized and sponsored what was affectionately known as the "Digger Open", a fund raising Golf Tournament for the Midland Park Lions Club. John will be sorely missed as a friend and good neighbor in the Borough of Midland Park. Surviving is his loving wife, Janet (nee Hazen). The Olthuis' would have celebrated their 65th anniversary on April 10. Also, his devoted children Lynn J. and her husband James Walti of San Diego, CA, Jane S. Olthuis and her husband Michael Lancaster of Braselton, GA., and J.H. "Jack" Olthuis and his wife Yvonne of Cape May Court House, NJ. John also leaves four adoring grandchildren, Christopher, Elise, Jamie, and Garrett, and his great granddaughter Breanna. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 am at the Olthuis Funeral Home, 159 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Interment will follow in the Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Visiting is Thursday 7:00 to 9:00, and Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
