Obituary of Edgar DeFino

DE FINO, Edgar F. age 92 of Wyckoff, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Ed was born in Paterson and lived in Wyckoff for the past 67 years. After graduating from the Paterson school system Ed attended the University of Connecticut. From 1937 to 1944 he was a Metropolitan Life Agent, and from 1946 to 1952 he was manager for Equitable Life Insurance. In 1952 Ed founded the DeFino Realtors in Wyckoff which is now in its third generation. New Jersey Governor Miner appointed the DeFino Agency as a Motor Vehicle agent in 1953, and again by Governor Hughs in 1966. Mr. DeFino was a member of the Wyckoff Library committee, St. Elizabeth's Building Fund where he was a parishioner, the Wyckoff Ambulance Fund, and the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Wyckoff Democratic Club from 1960 to 1963, in 1960 he was the first president of the Wyckoff Rotary Club, and chaired the Wyckoff Architectural Committee. Ed was also a member of the National Board of Realtors, and National Insurance Agents. Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Angelina "Lee" (nee Russo), his children, Phyllis Ims of Wyckoff, and Frank DeFino of Franklin Lakes, five grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 11:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (www.vpfh.com) 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Visiting is Tuesday, September 11, 2007, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corp., P.O.Box 214, Wyckoff, NJ 07481, or the American Diabetes Association, P.O.Box 11537, Alexandria, VA 22312.
