Obituary of Richard Fahey

Richard F. Fahey, age 81 died peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2007. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Fair Lawn before moving to Oradell in 1997. Richard was a life-long structural ironworker as was his father before him. He was in charge of the structural ironwork for the South Tower of the World Trade Center where he also worked with his sons Richard and Dan. He was a World War II veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a wonderful Irishman with a great sense of humor. He leaves behind his beloved companion of 28 years, Elsie Braune of Oradell. He is also survived by his brother Edward Fahey of Pine Bush, NY, his sons Daniel of West Milford, Richard of Manalapan and Thomas, his daughters Barbara Kuiken of Wyckoff and Catherine Simone of Hawthorne. His grandchildren, Jennifer and Edward Kuiken and Steven and Ryan Simone. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine Jewell Fahey (nee Smith) in 1977. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral Mass will be at Church of the Infant Saviour, Pine Bush, NY on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Interment, New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY. www.VPFH.com
