Obituary of James Hoban

Dr. James W. Hoban, age 85, died on Saturday, March 3, 2007. Born in Faribault, MN, he lived in Franklin Lakes for the past 47 years. Dr. Hoban was the Assistant Dean of Law at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and Professor of English at William Paterson University, Wayne, NJ. He was also a Licensed Realtor with Schlott Realty, Franklin Lakes. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He was an avid gardener and a dedicated supporter of animal and human rights. Jim's genuine love for people and life, his great sense of humor, and his gentle spirit were appreciated by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Hoban and husband Jeffrey Edelstein and two children Britt and Brian, his son William and wife Karen and three sons, Connor, Stephen, and David, and his daughter Kay and her partner Bonnie Nach. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jill (nee Bowyer), to whom he was married for 50 years, in 2006. Cremation will be private. There will be a memorial service, Saturday, April 7, 2007, 11:00 AM at Franklin Lakes Presbyterian Church 730 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436 or The Smile Train, 245 Fifth Ave. New York, NY 10016, would be appreciated.
