Obituary of B. Franklin Reinauer

REINAUER, B. Franklin, age 79, died peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born at home in Hawthorne, NJ to Bert and Lucy Reinauer he was raised in the Wortendyke section of Midland Park. Franklin graduated Pompton Lakes High School and completed his B.S. in Business Administration at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA, class of 1953 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. While at Lehigh, he met his future wife Marilouise who accepted his hand in marriage on the night she was crowned Miss Cedar Crest College, 1953. Upon graduation from college Franklin joined his brother Harold in the family business, established by his father in 1923: Reinauer Transportation Companies, based in Newark NJ and Staten Island, NY. The family business comprised a fleet of tugboats and barges operating on the eastern seaboard of the United States. He remained an active principal in the company today, known as Reinauer Maritime Group based in NY and Boston, MA. Under his tenure Reinauer has grown from a fleet of 16 tugboats and barges to a multi-faceted marine service company comprised of 72 tugboats and barges, marine construction in New York and Boston Harbors and ship building operations-SENESCO in North Kingstown, RI. Franklin enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and participant member at Ridgewood Country Club, Navisink Country Club, New York Athletic Club and Mid-Ocean Club, Bermuda. A well-traveled man, Franklin was always good for a great story for his many friends and acquaintances all over the world. He raised his family in Wyckoff, NJ and, in later years, enjoyed his homes at the Jersey shore and Tampa, FL. Franklin is survived by his beloved Cissi McEneaney, his three children; Dean Allison Reinauer-Murray and husband Thomas of Sparta, Christian Franklin of Sparta and Curtis Darrell of Quincy, MA, three grandchildren; Stephen Franklin, Christian Zachery and Austin Martin. Franklin was predeceased by his parents, his brother Harold in 1994 and the mother of his children in 1973. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Thursday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Service, Friday, 11:00 AM at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
