Obituary of Daniel Dilger

DILGER, Daniel G., Jr. age 86 of Wyckoff went peacefully to his Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. Born in Edgewater, NJ, Danny lived in Midland Park and Waldwick before moving to Wyckoff 51 years ago. He was an Accountant for Lowe Paper Company in Ridgefield, NJ for 39 years before his retirement. He was an active parishioner, Eucharistic minister and member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth's R. C. Church in Wyckoff. Danny served his country during World War II in the South Pacific and European Theaters in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Quartermaster First Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 57 in Waldwick. Danny was a gentle, caring, compassionate husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed. Surviving are his devoted daughters, Diana and her husband Douglas Hunt of Mahwah and Donna and her husband Donald Hammer of Wyckoff. Danny also leaves his adoring grandchildren, Daniel and Kevin Hunt and Alissa and Patrick Hammer and his sisters, June Dayock, Constance Hughes, Dorothy Menist, Ethel Scamporino and his sister-in-law, Alice Seeth. In 2006, Danny was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ruth W. (nee Wheeler) Dilger. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:30 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will be in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. Visiting is Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 214, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 or St. Elizabeth's Church.
