Obituary of Alfred Whelehan

WHELEHAN, Alfred A., age 84, died peacefully on Thursday, December 16, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, he most recently lived in Westwood. Alfred served his country during World War II in the U.S Navy where he earned the Purple Heart. Alfred was predeceased by his beloved wife Isabelle. He is survived by his five children; Frances (Richard) Keenan, Ellen (Anthony) Bozza , Marianne (Raymond) Keenan, Christopher (Mary) Whelehan and Sharon (Greg) Sullivan, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends may visit on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Mass, Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Paul's R.C. Church, 200 Wyckoff Ave., Ramsey. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research and Education may be made to Paul Nghiem, MD, PhD, University of Washington, Dermatology, 815 Mercer St., Brotman Building - Room 242, Box 358050, Seattle, WA 98109.
