I don’t think I’ve ever come away from a funeral and wake so inspired to become a better person. Nor have I ever witnessed a family with that much grace in the face of such pain; she would be so proud of all of you. How wonderful that she had such a deep and lasting impact on so many that the wait to get into Vander Plaat’s was 90 minutes long. I’ve never seen that, not even in Ireland. What a life lesson for all of us. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam uasal.

Dear Jon, Susan, Michael, Greg and Brian, I was so sad to hear of Eleanor's passing. While I haven't seen her in many years, my memories of her are of her glowing smile and how deeply she loved her family. I was always amazed that she was able to take care of four small children...all keeping her very busy and yet create such wonderful dinners!! Eleanor was truly one of the loveliest ladies I have ever known...and a lady she was! While I know there are no words that can ease your pain, may the beautiful memories of her and the love she had for each of you help you through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! Patte

Bri- as you know, I am fully aware of what you're going through right now, and even though we haven't really kept in touch much since college, I'll always consider you a close friend. As such, I'm feeling for you in these times. I will refrain from all the usual cliches, as I know there really nothing that can be said to make you feel much better at this time. However, I offer you my complete support if you ever need it- I would be more than happy to talk to you about it if you ever felt up to it, and I hope you realize that I say this with sincerity. I hope you find comfort in all the years you had with her, and the joy your children undoubtedly brought to her life. My younger sister just got married a week ago, and it was one of the most bittersweet experiences that I've ever had; I had the pleasure of walking her down the aisle and giving her away, and although you might find this to be just as sad as it was happy, it was nothing but beautiful... there was an overwhelming feeling of comfort in knowing that our parents were both there in spirit to celebrate with us. I pray that you, Lise, and your family will be blessed with the same solace and closure that we've experienced, and trust that in time the pain you're feeling now will subside and be overshadowed by an ever-growing appreciation of the gifts your mom gave you and the indelible mark she left on all your lives. I will always personally cherish the warmth and hospitality she showed me, no matter how little I got to know her or how long ago it was. She left one of the most lasting impressions of anyone I ever met, and I will always remember that. May she rest in peace. Take care brother.

I will always remember the great times we had at the Labor Day bonfires on the beach at GIOC. Whether it wine tasting or mudslides, we had alot of laughs. But I remember one bonfire party in particular. We had been listening to oldies and my husband, Reynold, who is a frustrated singer, decided after a few beers to sing Neil Sedaka's "Calendar Girls". Eleanor, Marylou Carey and myself jumped up and accompanied him as the back-up singers calling out the months. Our children who were in attendance thought it was hilarious(I think) and got a big kick out of it. From then on I always thought of us as the Calendar Girls.
I had many a good time with Eleanor Anderson. She was a great lady and a great friend. But more importantly she was alot of fun.
I will really miss my fellow Calendar Girl.
