Obituary of Mary De Stephano
DE STEPHANO, Mary, age 95, of the Bronx, died on Thursday, September 30, 2010. Born in Manhattan, Mary was a lifelong resident of the Bronx. She managed the Singer Sewing Machine store in Parkchester, as well as taught sewing there. A member of Aging of America in the Bronx, she was on the executive board organizing trips for the seniors. Mary was also a water color artist and won many awards for her paintings.
She is survived by her daughter Vivienne Dieckmann of Sloatsburg, 3 grandchildren: Deborah Dieckmann Gray of Belleville, NJ, Barbara Dieckmann Carter of Clayton, NC and Christine Dieckmann of Nyack. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Katelynn, Ashley, and Michael Carter. One of seven children, she is survived only by her brother, Frank DeStefano.
Funeral mass is Saturday, 10:15am at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ. Cremation will be private. Arrangements by the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
