I have so many wonderful memories of my Aunt Eileen. First of all Aunt Eileen was my GODMOTHER. Every year I would look forward to getting the mail around my birthday, she ALWAYS sent a lovely card and it ALWAYS had some money in it. (Uncle Buddy is my God-Father......don't recall getting anything from him....but hey it's never too late...just saying)!!!!!
Aunt Eileen used to sew some pretty dresses for me when I was in grammar school. I remember them being printed cotton dresses.....really fancy, I was ALWAYS the dressed best kid in my class thanks to Aunt Eileen's creative thoughtfulness. She also made my mother's gown for my wedding. It was a royal blue 2 piece gown with some very fancy bling on it. I believe she even wore it for Jeanette's wedding 2 years later.
Aunt Eileen always had a knack for clothes. Which reminds me of another story. I can't remember the whole story. Does anyone remember "the BORROWED sister's skirt story"?
The 3 sisters, Eileen, Beatrice and Gerri were working girls at the time. Aunt Eileen was working at the Yale Club as a secretary and Gerri & Bea worked at Metropolitan Life in NYC. Eileen would leave for work first thing in the morning. So Beatrice thought she could borrow one of her sisters skirts.....she would put it back as soon as she got home and Eileen would never know. Well couple days later when Eileen went to wear the skirt, which she had only just bought a few days ago, it was all torn. Shocked.... she couldn't understand what happened. She asked her sisters, Beatrice & Gerri if they knew how it may have happened. This is where the story gets fuzzy. We will have to ask Aunt Bea what happened.
When GrandMa Murphy was living with us in Union City, Aunt Eileen would take the bus in from Midland Park to visit once a week. Well, my 3 youngest brothers would sometimes act up and be Holy terrors. Grand Ma Murphy would say, Eileen take these kids home with ya because they won't act like that with you and Tom.
Aunt Eileen, my God Mother you will always be remembered fondly and with much love.

Sending love and hugs to all the Sheehan's. Your mom was a great lady and will be missed. I'll always remember her sitting at that looong kitchen table and also sewing Boyscout Scarfs! I still have the quilts she made my kids when they were born and the tooth fairy pillows too. God Bless, Darren and Jo-Anne Winkler and family

When my mom passed away almost 24 years ago, Aunt Eileen (Mom's oldest sister) would call me to check in on the family. We always had such nice conversations, and since my Mom and Aunt Eileen's voice sounded so much alike, it was so comforting to me. Especially when Aunt Eileen would say "Bye now".......just as my Mom used to. Aunt Eileen also made such beautiful gifts for my kids when they were born...from cute pillows and blankets, to Halloween costumes years later. Aunt Eileen's laugh was memorable.....we spent so many happy days at the Sheehan's house and have such wonderful memories, and most of them involved a story Aunt Eileen would tell...with that wonderful laugh! We will miss you forever.....thanks so very much for all of the wonderful family times that will live in our memories forever. I'm sure that my Mom has already greeted you in Heaven with the famous "Hi Ei"!! Rest in peace Aunt Eileen and thanks for the memories!!

I have so many great memories growing up with all Sheehan and Allen cousins, as kids we always had so much fun. Our mothers always seemed so mellow when we all got together , meanwhile there was about 20 kids running around playing and being loud.. it never seemed to phase Aunt Sissy, Aunt Eileen and my Mom. They loved to chat and laugh together.. it was our fathers who reacted to the craziness of all us kids being kids.. Aunt Eileen loved to laugh and tell a good story, either about one of the kids or Uncle Tom. She was a sweet, kind woman and I wonder to this day, did she ever yell at her kids...LOL I can't imagine that.. I guess I didn't get that mellow gene !! RIP Aunt Eileen you will be missed... Love Annie, <3
