Obituary of Ellen La Iacona

LA IACONA Ellen, age 62, died peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2012 at her home. Born in New York, NY, she grew up in Brooklyn and had been a resident of Bergenfield for the last year. Ellen was a junior underwriter at American Insurance Group (AIG) where she met her beloved husband of 38 years, Vincent. Ellen was a fantastic homemaker who took great delight in providing wonderful meals and desserts for her family. Her specialties were chicken parmesan, pepper steak and cheesecake. Ellen is survived by her dear son Vincent, III and his loving fiancée Emily Marchese of Jersey City and her three siblings: Patricia Bloukos of Lady Lakes, FL, and Judith Coniglio and James Yovino, both of Staten Island. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent, Jr. and her brother John Yovino, both in 2011. Cremation was private. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, followed by interment at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bergenfield Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 1 Froelich Street, Bergenfield, NJ 07621, or CancerCare, 275 7th Ave., New York, NY 10001.
