Obituary of Elsie Golden

GOLDEN, Elsie Marie, age 72 went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 24, 2010. Born and raised in Paterson, she lived in North Haledon and Oakland before moving to Wyckoff thirty years ago. In her early years of marriage Elsie stayed home to raise her young family. She later returned to work as a claims processor at Churchhill Administrators of Englewood Cliffs where her career spanned nearly forty years. However, her family was always her first priority. She was an active member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church where she served in many capacities, most recently as a Deaconess. Elsie walked closely with the Lord and selflessly gave of her time and energy, loving her husband, family, friends and others. Elsie, known for her grace and compassion, blessed many with scripture verses, prayers, and words of encouragement along life's way. Elsie is survived by her beloved husband John, to whom she was married for 47 wonderful years, her three dear children: Gregory and wife Lauren of North Haledon, Laura Gorter and husband Steve of North Haledon, and Lisa Kuperus and husband Miles, Jr. of Wantage, her eleven grandchildren: Jonathan, Miles, III, Bethany, Anna Marie, Racheal, William, Richard, Calvin, Kristin, Elisabeth, and Wesley. She is also survived by her sister Joan Mabie and husband Don of Wyckoff and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Elsie was predeceased by her dear granddaughter Elise and her sister Pearl Abma. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. All are invited to the graveside service, Monday beginning at 9:30 AM at the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery. (Please meet at the cemetery.) A Service of Celebration and Praise will follow, 11:00 AM at Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Ave., Midland Park.
