Obituary of Thomas J. Sheehan

SHEEHAN, Thomas J. Sr., age 86 of Midland Park, died Sunday, May 23, 2010. Born in Jersey City, Tom lived in Midland Park for 48 years. Tom was in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a member of the 573rd Bomb Squadron in the European Theater. He was also the Butcher and a Meat Manager for Grand Union retiring from the Ridgewood Store. Tom is survived by his loving wife Eileen, his children: Ellen and John Struble of Sussex, Patricia and Dan Sommers of Doylestown, PA, Catherine and Neal VanDer Weert of Midland Park, Thomas J. Sheehan Jr., and Madalyn Olive of Greenwood Lake, NY, Rosemary and John Leyden of Mahwah, Lorraine and Jeff Kunz of Oakland, Elizabeth and James Ketterer of Greenwood Lake, NY and Jeanne and James Saeli of Warwick, NY; 17 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his sister Rita Gatlin of Sussex. Tom is predeceased by his brothers Joseph, Walter and Raymond. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ, www.vpfh.com. Funeral Mass is Wednesday at 9:30am at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ. Interment will be at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Meaningful Movements Inc., an organization serving children and adults who are differently-abled, 6 Godwin Plaza, PO Box 294 , Midland Park, NJ 07432-0294.
