Obituary of Mary Smiszko

SMISZKO, Mary (Pappas) age 94, died peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2010, at Pine Rest Healthcare Center, Paramus. Mary was born in New York City, she lived in Manhattan, Jackson Heights and Bayside, NY for many years before moving to Wyckoff in 1981. She was the Accounts Payable Manager for New York Airways for more than 25 years before her retirement. Mary enjoyed traveling worldwide with her husband Stephan while he was with Eastern Airlines and Western Union. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Patricia Wirkus, Irene Rodrigues, Ronald Florek, Marie Pietraszewski and Stephen Orenchuk and 6 grand nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Stephan E. Smiszko in 2005, her nephew Peter Pietraszewski and her brother Timothy Pappas. Funeral prayers will be held Tuesday, 9:15 AM followed by a funeral service, 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas G.O. Church, 467 Grandview Ave., Wyckoff. Entombment will be in the Garden of Memories in Washington Twp. Visiting will be Monday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas G.O. Church.
