Obituary of Donna D'Anton

D'ANTON, Donna Maria (nee Jarossi) age 57 of Mahwah, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Donna was born in New York City and had been a resident of Mahwah for the past 22 years. In 1970 Donna was graduated from Ridgewood High School. She received an Associates Degree from Old Dominion University in 1972, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Masters in Education from Rutgers University in 1983. She was a practicing Dental Hygienist from 1972. Donna began her career at Bergen Community College in 1979 as a Clinical Coordinator. She later taught Dental Health Sciences and was an Assistant Professor at Bergen Community. She was a published author of dental science articles. In 2009 she was named Outstanding Dental Hygienist. She was active in the community and served as a Girl Scout leader. Donna was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R. C. Church in Wyckoff. Surviving is her loving husband of 29 years, John J. D'Anton, her devoted children Andrea Marie and John Anthony, her mother Mary Jarossi of Hillsdale and her sister Joan and her husband David Desmond and their sons Brian, Kevin and Scott of Park Ridge. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:30 AM from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will follow 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will be in Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah. Visiting is Friday 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
