Ahhh Yes, My Uncle Matty. One of the many great memories I have with Uncle Matt is the time he gave me a part time job as a bartender, at his restaurant, Jonathan's. I had absolutely no bartender experience, which I made very clear to him. I remember showing up the first day a nervous wreck. He obviously detected that, sat me down and explained that there's nothing to worry about. He had such a laid back approach, I could do nothing but believe him. I personally know of no one with more patience then my Uncle. If I made a mistake, he would calmly say, watch me, this is how it's done. The way he demonstrated and explained things, it usually took just one take, and from then on, I got it right.
Uncle Matt also had a passion for sports. Whether it be Horse racing, Baseball , Football or Hockey. I would love conversing with him about any of those sports or just about anything in life. I will forever cherish those memories. From here going forward, there will always be a large void in my heart. I will miss you immensely.
Until we meet again, Uncle of mine...... Rest in Peace. I Love You! Your nephew Richie

My Uncle Matty who I lovingly referred to as "Bad Boy" was, and will always be a part of me. From the visits as kids in Baldwin Long Island, to the times in Mahwah New Jersey, a kinder more gentle soul would be hard to come by. Never will I forget all the good times I had with you. Only a few people in my life have such a large piece of my heart, and you deserve every inch of it. Somehow the sun will not be as bright, the moon not as full, but in my heart you will always remain. It's never easy to say goodbye, so I will just say again, I love you Uncle Matty! Your Nephew, Chris (80)

My Uncle Matty..
"Papa" as I would call him. Whenever we got together... be-it Family get togethers or Holidays, there always came a point in the day where he and I would talk about business and finance's. When giving me advise, he would always start the conversation by saying " I'm talking to you like you were one of my sons" Well you what Papa, I wish I were.
I will miss you dearly. Family get togethers will never be the same..
Rest in peace.... Until we meet again,
Your loving Nephew,
William

Some of my fondest memories of Matty were when I was a teen-ager growing up
in Lake Secor.
After he married my beautiful sister, they would visit the family during the summer
and on holidays. Before our gala meals, Matty and I would always spend an hour or so "shooting hoops" at one of the local basketball courts. It could be 40 degrees outside with the threat of snow, but we would still get in a few games of "horse."
Matty was like a big brother to me, constantly giving me tips on improving my shots and eventually bringing me to a point where I could actually win some of our competitions. The great thing about Matty was that he was just as pleased as I was if I scored more points than him.
Later, when we were at home having our three hour meal, Matty would be recruited to carve the turkey on Thanksgiving or man the cooking duties at a summer barbeque.
Matty always added to the festivities and happy times with his friendliness, open personality, generosity and overwhelming kindness. I cherish those days and memories as I know all of us that were close to Matty do.
Everyone loved Matty. It was easy to do. He uttered no harsh words and was always pleasant. I know that Matty added significantly to my life and made growing up more pleasurable with his presence.
The memories described here are a very small part of the vast store of the many more
good memories and thoughts I have about Matty. Although I never told him I loved him,
I hope he knew of the great affection and respect I had for him.
Although he is gone from this place, I will always carry the wonderful and loving memories that Matty has filled my past with and I know that others will feel the same.
I love you Matty.
Albert

The light of life burns to a flicker Briefly, disappearing into darkness. Sadness clouds our view Across the vast eons of time and deep within our aching souls, A light appears, faintly at first. Glowing brighter on love until Its Blazing Glory takes its place within the heart of God.
