Obituary of Albert Orr

ORR, Albert J., age 76, died peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2010. Born in Paterson, he lived there until moving to Ridgewood forty years ago. Albert was a gear cutter with Van Vlandereen Machine Company of Paterson for twenty six years. After retirement he greatly enjoyed his job as a crossing guard at Sommerville School in Ridgewood. Albert served his country in the United States Army Alaskan Defense Command until honorable discharge in 1955. He was an avid gardener and bowler. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Albert is survived by his beloved wife Lois to whom he was married for fifty three wonderful years, his dear daughter Debra Bassett and husband William of West Milford and his dear son Scott and wife Karen of Ridgewood. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren Michael, Matthew and Meghan, and his brother Frederick and wife Betty of Manchester, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased by his sister Betty Frasca. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service celebrating Albert's life will take place Saturday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
