Obituary of Andrew Hayes

HAYES, Andrew John age 89 of Wyckoff, died peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Van Dyk Manor Nursing Home in Ridgewood. Andrew was born in Detroit, MI, he grew up in Chicago, IL before moving to Wyckoff. He was a self-employed consulting engineer. Andrew served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Lorraine (nee Cauthen) and his devoted daughters, Ellen Turner of Midland Park, Maureen Hayes of Little Canada, MN, Kathleen Balarin of San Francisco, CA and Mary Edwards of Warwick, NY. Andrew also leaves his seven adoring grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, Kevin, Ivan, Connor, Olivia and Emma. The Hayes family will have a gathering of friends on Thursday, March 18, 2010, 3:00 until 4:30 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. A service of rememberance will follow at 4:45 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
