Obituary of Donna Catanese

Catanese, Donna, age 48, died peacefully after a long battle with advanced endometrial cancer, on Thursday, March 4, 2010. Born in Passaic, Donna grew up in Garfield and traveled all the way to Huatulco, Mexico on vacation where she met her loving husband and soul-mate Joe. They lived in Maywood for ten years, before moving to Wyckoff eight years ago. Donna was an active member of the Midland Park community, serving as book fair chairperson, HIP program liaison of the PTA and supporter of all Midland Park recreational sports and activities. Donna was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity where she taught CCD. She loved making arts and crafts with children and was a devoted girl scout leader in both Maywood and Wyckoff. Donna is survived by her beloved husband Joe, to whom she was married for eighteen wonderful years, her dear daughter Georgia Sophia, her loving parents John and Genevieve Olko of Garfield, and her brother John Olko, Jr. of Elizabethtown, PA. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, 4-7 PM and Monday, 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral Prayers, Tuesday, 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass, 9:30 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park.
