Obituary of Daniel Wallendal
WALLENDAL, Daniel W., age 88, died peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Born in Paterson, he was a life-long resident of Wyckoff.
Dan was owner and president of Wm. H. Coleman Associates of Hawthorne. He was extremely service minded as evidenced by his service to his country, his community and his church. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Dan was a member of the Paterson Rotary Club and past president of the Hawthorne Rotary and was a volunteer with the Wyckoff Ambulance Corps. He was a member of Abundant Life Reformed Church of Wyckoff where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder.
Survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth, to whom he was married for 64 wonderful years, his two daughters Nancy Bassman and husband Ted of Scotch Plains, NJ and Janet Wallendal of Wyckoff, his two grandchildren Jennifer Ruch and husband Travis and Peter Bassman. He is also survived by his sister Irene Wolkenmuth and husband Ed of Columbia, NJ and his brother Joseph and wife Willy of Flemington, NJ. Daniel was predeceased by his dear son Robert and his sister Dorothy and her husband George Hempel.
Interment will be private. Visitation on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 10 - 11 AM at Abundant Life Reformed Church Library, 475 Lafayette Ave., Wyckoff. A celebration of life service will follow in the church sanctuary at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Christian Health Care Center Foundation, 301 Sicomac Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481 or the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 214, Wyckoff, NJ 07481, would be appreciated.
