Obituary of Peter Plafta

PLAFTA, Peter Jr., 66, of Midland Park passed away on January 29, 2010. Born in Garfield, he was raised in Lodi he was the only child of the late Peter and Clara Plafta. He Lived in Midland Park for 41 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Judith, his devoted son Robert, his princess daughter Jill and her husband John Melvin of Cazenovia, N.Y., cherished grandfather "Pumpkin Pa" to Ian and Ryan Melvin, his best buddy Oliver, his Yorkshire Terrier, and many wonderful family members, amazing friends and wonderful neighbors. Peter, a graduate of New York Institute of Technology, was employed for 37 years with Hoffman La Roche/Johnson Controls. Peter and Judi Co-Chaired the first Gold Award Girl Scout Troop in Midland Park. He was past President of the Midland Park Music Parents. He was a pioneer partner in the Verizon H.G. McCully Upstate Chapter 12. He was a member of the Garden State Village Collectors Club and took pride in designing with Judi the "Plafta Village" for the Christmas holiday. He was an avid gardener, loved antiquing, flea markets, and traveling. The Plafta family will receive friends on Monday 2 �" 4 & 7 �" 9 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ, www.vpfh.com. A service celebrating Peter's life will be on Tuesday at 11:00am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home.
