Obituary of Agnes Kuiken

KUIKEN Agnes, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Born in Midland Park on June 24, 1924, she was a life-long resident and grew up in the comfort of a large loving family. Agnes was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Midland Park where she was a member of the Ruth Circle, the Mother's Club and served in the past as a Deaconess. Agnes was known by her family to be a warm, loving wife and giving friend. She especially enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needle point for family and friends. A wonderful cook and baker, Agnes loved to entertain guests with her recipes and warm hospitality. Agnes is survived by her beloved husband John D. to whom she was married for 64 beautiful years. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Chuck and Wanda Jurgensen and their three children, as well as her devoted friends Dave and Betty Sullivan and their eight children. Agnes was predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters: Bertha, Berdina, Trina, Jennie, Henrietta, John, William, Gary and Samuel. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Valleau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Christian Health Care Center, Development Office, 301 Sicomac Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481 or Eastern Christian School Association, Development Office, 50 Oakwood Ave., North Haledon, NJ 07508, would be appreciated.
