Obituary of Jacob Vander Meulen

VANDER MEULEN, Jacob, age 89, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Born in Paterson, he lived in Hawthorne for 55 years before moving to the Holland Christian Home in 2005. Jacob was a member of Faith Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff where he served as an elder and deacon. He was a superintendant with Pike Construction of Paterson for 25 years until retiring in 1983. He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. Jake was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His beloved wife Janet, to whom he was married for 60 years, predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by his four dear children; Eileen Hutton and husband Sipp of Summit, Diane Woolsey and husband William of Lubbock, TX, Carol Ten Brink and husband Paul of Cutlerville, MI, and William and his wife Shelley of Ann Arbor, MI. He is also survived by ten cherished grandchildren and three cherished great grandchildren. Friends may visit the family on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Chapel of the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Ave. North Haledon. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, 9:30 AM at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 530 Sicomac Ave. Wyckoff, followed by interment at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Holland Christian Home Foundation, 151 Graham Ave., North Haledon, NJ 07508, would be appreciated.
