Obituary of Dorothy Heitmann

Heitmann, Dorothy May (nee Koelln) age 91, of Midland Park died Friday, April 27, 2012. Born in Weehawken, NJ she moved to Ridgefield Park at age 5 and lived there before moving to Wyckoff in 1978 and then moved to Midland Park in 2011. Dorothy married her sweetheart, Warren Heitmann in 1943, who predeceased her in 1963. Dorothy was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church of Ridgefield Park where she was active in many church activities and most recently, Advent Lutheran Church. She was a member of Insurance Women of America and the Wyckoff Seniors having served as the Trip Coordinator. Dorothy was an Executive Secretary for Grand Met in Montvale, NJ for 10 years and spent many years in the Casualty Insurance business having worked for several companies in the area. Surviving are her two sons, John W. Heitmann and his wife, Gail of Big Flats, NY and Kenneth A. Heitmann and his wife, Diana of Hillsdale, NJ and her 2 grandchildren, Bryan Heitmann and Lacy Heitmann and her husband Aaron Horneman. Also surviving are her niece, Marilyn Profers and her husband, Donald and nephew, William Koelln and his wife, Barbara. Dorothy was predeceased by her two brothers, Raymond William Koelln and Howard William Koelln. Visiting, Monday 3-7 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, NJ.
