I met Ralph but a couple of times... but they were a memorable couple of times. My sincerest condolences to the entire family. "Have Claude do something interesting with the lobster" remains one of the greatest lines I have ever heard. He was such a class act.

My sincere condolences to all the August family regarding your loss. Ralph was a true force of nature -- a man with an easy smile, a wry sense of humor, wonderful energy, and an unflappable passion for the New York Giants and fast boats and family, who always had a tremendous sense of fun about him. I will always remember being aboard one of the versions of "Liquid Asset" racing down the Hudson and the East Rivers, and pausing to look back toward Manhattan Island at the Twin Towers that are now also, incredibly, gone. What loving and fun family gatherings there were at Stratton, Vermont, and him taking "the hillbilly" into the City to see Rockefeller Center at Christmas and buying chestnuts from street vendors. Ralph was witty, smart, and completely unpretentious -- a welcoming, generous man who lived life fully and shared his enthusiasm for it with grace and elegance. He will be greatly missed.
