Obituary of Carolyn Smith

SMITH, Carolyn J. age 80 of Plainview, NY formerly of Ridgewood, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Carolyn was born in Hackensack on December 19, 1928. She was a resident of Ridgewood for more than 50 years before moving to Long Island just a year ago. Carolyn volunteered at the Valley Hospital Breast Center, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Glen Rock Fire Dept., enjoyed being part of the Humane Society in Bergen County and was a long time parishioner of the Old Paramus Reformed Church. Surviving is her daughter Sharon and her husband Kenneth Daly of Melville, NY. Carolyn was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 46 years Robert E. Smith in 1995 and her beloved daughter Wendy Smith Henrichsen in 1988. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:30 am from the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow in the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood. The Smith family will receive friends this Sunday 2:00 until 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, 2 Shelter Lane, Oakland, NJ 07436.
