Obituary of Magda Knop

KNOP, Magda "Maggie" (Olsen ) age 71 of Glen Rock died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, May 29, 2009. Maggie was born in Brooklyn, NY and had been a resident of Glen Rock for the past 44 years. She was a lifelong Lutheran and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Glen Rock for 44 years. Maggie served as church secretary and council member and participated in a number of church groups. She was a Valley Hospital Volunteer at the Luckow Oncology Pavilion gladly serving while going through her own treatments. Maggie graduated from Ramapo College in 1980 and was a licensed N.J. Tax Assessor serving as Glen Rock's assessor for seven years. Her retirement years were filled with family related activities where she used her extraordinary talents in sewing, cooking and organizational skills to the delight and benefit of both family and friends. She researched and found a location for our second home in Vermont which has become a "get away" for year round enjoyment and gatherings. Surviving is her loving husband of 48 years, Robert C. Knop, her devoted children, Lori and her husband Chris Herz, Susan and her husband Laurence Barile, Robert M. Knop and Judy Knop. She was the proud and doting grandmother of Kevin and Jeffrey Barile. Maggie also leaves her dear sisters Karin Harrison and Edna Jeffers, her sister-in-law Pat Olsen, her brother-in-law Ken Knop and his wife Sally and many loving nieces and nephews. Maggie was pre-deceased by her brother Roy Olsen and her brothers-in-law Richard Harrison and James Jeffers. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 233 S. Highwood Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ 07452 on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Maggie to the Memorial Fund of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 233 S.
