Lynn posted a condolence

Hi. My name is Lynn Scott and I am one of Theresa’s sisters. I’ve known Mrs. C as long as Theresa and Eddie have been together. I think that’s around 35 years. We’ve spent some holidays and summer picnics together in the past but about two years ago we started spending more time together. That was when my father was in the same nursing home. Almost daily Mrs. C would push her wheelchair to my father’s room to visit with him. They would share snacks and Mrs. C always had the latest gossip. My sisters and I were comforted he had a friend, a family member, there. Sometimes I brought one of my dogs to visit my father. Mrs. C loved dogs and if time allowed, we would visit with her. After my father passed Lightning and I continued to visit Mrs. C. Lightning is shy so I always made sure Mrs. C had a handful of snacks hoping that after Lights took the treat, she would stay close to her. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. But Mrs. C was always glad for the visit and thanked Lights for coming, even if she spent most of the time on my lap. At one point Mrs. C noticed that when Lights sat next to her during bingo, she won, so I tried to plan our visits during bingo. A couple months passed before our visit last Sunday and I think Lightning knew something was different. She settled in bed next to Mrs. C without bribery and after awhile laid her head on her arm. Mrs. C told me what a great friend and roommate Brenda is. They got along very well and kept an eye on each other. When my husband Bob visited she pointed out that both he and Brenda were teachers and got them started in a conversation. Mrs. C was the social butterfly with a quick wit, and easily spoke her mind. It was nice to see how quickly she could bring others together and put them at ease. She had many friends who would visit her often. And she told me about her favorite nurses and aides and I’m grateful they looked after her as well. Mrs. C’s family and friends were the center of her world. She often showed me what was on the shelves in her room and we’d look at photographs. While munching on her stash of goodies, Mrs. C talked about her children, grandchildren and bragged about her great grandchild. She loved them all and wished she had more time to spend with them. Theresa you were more than a daughter in law. And Eddie, your mother couldn’t have asked for a more loving, dedicated and caring son than you. Mrs. C’s goal was to reach 80 years this August but now the celebration will be in two places. And knowing Mrs. C, if she hasn’t met Elvis by now I’m sure she will in time for her party.
