Obituary of Barbara Bensen

BENSEN, Barbara Boyd, age 87, died on Wednesday April 15, 2009, at home. Born in Paterson, Barbara has lived in Ridgewood since 1953. Barbara graduated from Connecticut College for Women with a Bachelor's Degree in 1943. She has been a Realtor in Ridgewood for over 50 years, starting with her own office Bensen Real Estate, and then Walstrum, Gordon, and Forman, Gunster Real Estate, Coldwell Banker and most recently Ridgewood Realty. She was an active member of the Ridgewood Northwest Bergen Board of Realtors and served as secretary in 1968 for two terms. She also served on the Executive Committee, Board of Governors, Board of Directors, Grievance Committee and Arbitration and Ethics Committee. She was granted Realtor Emeritus in 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia and husband John Mazor of Wyckoff, and Wendy and husband Gordon McAlister, as well as 6 grandchildren, Nancy King, Susan Anderson, Dianne Jochim, Maureen Maguire and Ryan and Kyle McAlister. She is also survived by 8 Great Grandchildren; Delany, Riley and Jack Anderson, Carolyn, Conner, Christopher and Andrew King and Brayden Jochim. She was predeceased by her parents Milton and Viola Boyd and brother Chapin Boyd. Visiting hours are Friday, April 17, 2009, 2- 4 & 7 - 9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral service is 9:30 am, Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, 722 East Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood, New Jersey 07450.
